Briony Bennett and Sophie Price, two Haverfordwest Youth Forum members recently held a Well-Being Night at Pembrokeshire Archives for twelve girls who attend Haverfordwest Youth Club. The evening was funded by Pembrokeshire Youth Bank's youth-led grant scheme, funded by WCVA and Welsh Government under its Prosperity for All Strategy, and the theme of the evening was ‘well-being.'
Sophie and Briony delivered a presentation on the ‘five ways to well-being' discussing how young people can incorporate the five ways (connect, be active, take notice, keep learning and give) into their daily lives in order to improve their own well-being. In addition, the girls took part in activities that will help them de-stress and feel good, such as nail art, face masks, art/drawing and they all made healthy fruit kebabs. The girls also invited a substance misuse worker from Choices who raised awareness on substance misuse.
Sophie, age 15 and Briony, age 15 said "we really enjoyed organising a well-being night for the younger girls who attend youth club and hope they now know the importance of looking after their well-being."
Steve Lewis, Community Youth Worker said ‘Sophie and Briony deserve huge praise for planning and delivering a session which enabled the girls who attend youth club to enjoy a safe environment to discuss mental health with their peers, youth workers and professionals."
